Jul 26, 2020 · I have a john deere 990 and we were mowing this morning. i got off to move a plant and when I put the tractor in gear it would not move. The pto is working fine. The tractor goes into gear with the gear shift. The clutch has compression. I hear a grinding noise coming from under my feet. 25-Jan-2022 ... Our "rebrand" JD1050 has been a real peach, No major issues since '87. It's sure enough a rebrand as it looks exactly like it's yanmar equal except for paint and emblems. I'd expected the 990 to be the same as it's a near 100% yanmar. Sounds like the clutch was mis-adjusted right out the gate.

Has anyone else had problems with these 990. I removed filter body, changed filter added fuel and delivery was good but I note that they placed the filter body almost even with the tank.
