Tivo remote not working with new batteries.

Pressing those once made the TiVo act like it was pressed twice. Covering the IR sensor would make it act normal, which meant that the remote sent 2 signals: one via IR and one via bluetooth. So far I have tried: -Changing batteries. -Resetting the Stream 4k. -Re pairing by clicking on the button on the stream and pressing the tivo button and the back button.Clean the battery terminals with rubbing alcohol, and put in fresh batteries. Use the remote at the same height as the sensor on the device. Remote should be at an angle no more than 30° left or right and no more than 15 feet from the device. Reprogram the remote. IMHO the RF performance of TiVo remotes is sub-par, at least for my Roamio Base model. I am following the instructions. I put new batteries in. The TiVo functions work but the light won't remain on so I can program it to control the TV or reset it. You need the Tivo & TV Power keys to program the remote for anything, so if you can't get the tv power working, you won't be able to enter a code, or put the remote into learning mode.The problem is that the Roamio remote has gone in one place pretty much since I got it, and that's where I always reach. I had to come up with a new place for the Edge remote. The Roamio will be used as long as there are shows left to watch still there. And I still have a traditional place for the Series 2 remote which works on everything, or did.
