Turn the lawn mower off and disconnect the spark plug. Place a piece of cloth where the spark plug was. Let the cloth absorb the oil that comes out. Pull the starter rope several times to get rid of the excess oil. After a few pulls, remove the cloth and put another one in its place. Pull the cord again.
