A single coat of Sherwin Williams Duration (2nd highest tier of paint - expensive but worth it) covered everything with no problem. No primer needed. Like I said, it was expensive, but I absolutely hate painting so if you're anything like me I'd recommend going with high quality paint versus trying to prime and then apply multiple coats of paint afterwards.

Oct 10, 2013 · I spray latex primer and it will sand alright if you let it dry overnight. It tends to gum up on the paper if you only let it dry a couple of hours. I prefer to use a lacquer primer though. It's called Bushwacker white lacquer primer offered by Sherwin Williams. It dries fast and sands very well.
