There are some ways of getting gems like just mining rocks, digging with a shovel, playing the arcade (in wich you can get different tems too, sometimes even royal clothing) and the fastest way to get them is to go into the void. Set up 2-4 islands with quarry+mining rods with a lighthouse or three and watch it all come in.
