There is a marshy area on the river where animals can cross that works as a pretty good choke point. I've harvested, white tail, moose, and coyote there. I think some of the animals use it due to need zones on both sides of the river so they travel back & forth. There's no real trees close by so you'd have to use the tripod stand.

Only thing I did was hunt in Vurhonga for a few days, came back for ducks and my population in Layton was better. I'm on XB1, not had any problems but I have noticed I'm spotting more animals at new need zones. Seeing ducks on the lakes without having to call them or use decoys too. On Xbox one and all I see are ducks.

I think Hirschfelden gives the better hunting experience in most places because of the amount of foliage. Hirschfelden looks a lot nicer too. I started on Hirschfelden and had no problems, but the game is very noob-friendly on either map so don't worry about it. I think I ended up with 37 or something. The reason you find all your zones before you start shooting animals is because shot animals may be respawned in an undiscovered need zone, and an animal from that zone spawned in the zone where the animal was killed. So you may end up with a whole bunch of does in your discovered zones.I have created maps of Layton Lake District, Hirschfelden Hunting Reserve and Medved-Taiga showing the best locations for each species.
