Subaru outback driver window reset.
So until the passenger window is "reset" such that the computer knows the difference between real obstruction and something in the way before the window is supposed to reach it's limit, it will not let the driver control it. I'm not saying this is an ideal way of handling this, but this could explain it.

There is a fuse box under the hood on the driver's side (with spare fuses in the lid) and another in the driver's side under dash. Both covers have legends on them describing the fuses.It's also very simple, so it's possible it's the same in 2017. Even if the wiring is identical, a number of things need to be changed: Drivers's switch cluster. $125. Rear door switches $50 x2. Rear door motors $280 x2 (I think those need to be changed as well) total $785. Oh, and a few hours of labor...The old one stopped working intermittently on the driver's window. The problem got worse over time and then it stopped completely. After replacing the switch and reconnecting the battery, I did the reset trick on the rear and passenger windows and now they all work fine from the master.
The instructions for resetting the power windows are on page 2-37 of the manual. But the instructions do not work in this case. The front passenger window was down when the battery discharged (left the tailgate up), and so it is down now that the battery is charged and everything else is working. The front passenger window only rolls up, but it does not roll down. I've ruled out the following: 1) Front passenger window switch - it's fine as I tried it by connecting to the rear door. 2) Motor/regulator - I bought a brand new motor / regulator. However, it would only roll up but not down when installed on front passenger door.
Usually the reset procedure solves the issue. I'd try disconnecting the battery for 2 or 3 minutes to ensure the window module memory is killed, and after reconnecting it again, try the power window switch. Help!Going back the garage, I turn the push-button start to ON (rather than ACC), and used the passenger side window button to run the window all the way up, all the way back down, and then up again. Now the window operated normally from both the passenger's side button and the driver's side button. Mission accomplished. I tried to reset it and it’s still not working. I’m thinking my motor is blown. look up a sensor reset. Pull the switch up 10 times, push it down 10 times, then pull up and hold for 10 seconds. I was just about to buy the switch, I found out Subaru's have a safety sensor in the windows, very easy fix takes seconds to try before spending $$$. Step 2) Disconnect the Neg battery cable and secure away from battery. step 3) I removed the center dash cubby, start in the lower left area or where ever you think it wont break, this seemed to work best for me. work around slowly until it pops out.

Ok try a capacitive discharge, make sure the key is off and disconnect both battery cables, then touch both cables together for about 10 seconds.
