Do note that the Top of a Raised level is higher than the bottom of a Lowered level, one level up. So, to flatten an area that has holes and/or raised areas, it's probably best to Raise the holes, then go back and lower everything from one block higher. That'll stabilize the height, effectively flattening everything.

In reality, with my computer specs, the most reasonable amount of Corestone drills (they are the fastest drill) would be around 50. Under 100 is manageable if you want to AFK for some SICK gains, but 50 would be optimal for trying to complete other tasks.The dev explained in many opportunities, the depth of the drill is the most important factor to get more ores, with less dirt.
