Earlier today I made a trade for a Glenfield Model 30A, cal. .30-30. It is pre-crossbolt safety, blue steel and a hardwood stock which I believe is probably birch. It is in very nice shape. It has a forearm end cap rather than the rear barrel band. Q.: Is there any significant difference between it and a Marlin 336?

What is the general consensus about the durability of the older Marlin leverguns vs. the current stock? Are the new ones built just as good as the old ones? The Glenfield 30A is/was the cheaper version of the Marlin 336. Then Marlin discontinued the Glenfield line. They still made the guns, but now called the Marlins.
