The correct technical answer is that Elden Ring on steam DOES NOT support PS5 rumble. It doesn't actually support a PS5 controller at all in any way. People saying otherwise are mistaken, and using DS4 to make the controller rumble half-work doesn't mean that it "works" on steam platform. DS4 works to get half-rumble is correct.

I found the solution.. - Open your PS5. - Connect your controller wether it's the regular one on the dual edge. - Go to controller profiles and turn off vibrations completly from the console. - Connect it back to your PC and hopefully this will fix it for you.The game then detects the dualsense and updates the button prompts to match the controller and has full haptics. Presumably it's the same if you're using the non-Steam version, Steam seems to be overriding the controller profile with its generic Playstation support version. You don't need DS4 with FFXIV anymore apparently.If you don't, RetroArch will see both DS5 and a virtual Xbox 360 controller. In that case, you'll have to manually choose the virtual Xbox 360 controller in "Settings > Input > Port 1 Controls". This specifically made it work for me. This also solved the problem of having to remap port 1 & port 2.
