My birth class lady said you can start losing your plug (bits and pieces or the whole thing) anywhere from 34 weeks (kinda early---traditionally around 36 weeks) to right before birth. It's just an indicator that birth will be happening, but it is not a time sensitive thing. It has no bearing on when labor will occur.
