It’s worth spending some time looking into how different Parrying is in DS1 vs DS2. I was pretty solid in DS1, and I can barely pull one off without a buckler. Just watch some videos and understand that it has a longer wind-up time, get the timing down, and you’ll be good.

Ultra great swords are pretty heavy. If you have low equip load it could really limit the armor you can wear without fat rolling. The pursuers sword is ok, but to be honest the standard greatsword is better. It's move set is more useful and it upgrades with standard materials.
