137 posts · Joined 2013. #1 · Apr 15, 2014. Have been chasing a P0442 code and have changed out any suspect rubber lines and added hose clamps where needed as well as replacing the gas cap. I have noticed that my very rusty fuel vapor return line looks to have a few small seeps, showing wet spots on the line in the same consistent places.
You can replace them with bulk FI hose and good hose clamps. If you are replacing the hard lines, you can use a flaring tool to put a little bubble flare on the ends of the lines to give a good grip on the rubber hose/clamps. Same with the vapor hard line. I assume you mean pressure and not compression. It could be that you have a loose fitting on the fuel filter or a crack or pinhole on a fuel line. Another lesser known factor one reaps when the return line recirculates unused fuel back to the tank is that the fuel doesn't get heat soaked setting in the line to get used. Most of the threads I've seen is where the fuel line has been leaking towards the rear of the Jeep. Sep 21, 2010 · If you suspect that the fuel return line is blocked, a simple test to do would be to remove the fuel return line and blow through it. If you can do this, then it is not blocked. Another test you can do is to put a fuel pressure gauge in the return line, run the engine through idle to about 1500 RPMs, and see what it reads.
