A Remington hull might work with an SP20 hunting wad (would not try to use the RXP 20 wad). A Federal hull would likely work with the 20S1 factory wad. I would suggest that you look at the load data on the Hodgdon website and try assembling one shell to see if everything will fit and allow a proper crimp. This should be very doable with ...

Oct 30, 2020 · The only other way I can think of is if you don't mind a little jury rigging, take a gas seal similar to the SP 20 gas seal cut from another wad & build up the wad column with fiber filler wads & use the shot cup on top. Be careful to use the same type of gas seal as the data you go by. The fiber wad should not significantly change the pressure. B.

This is the only wad that works with the 1 1/8 oz. load without an excessive amount of wad pressure. B.Mar 17, 2011 · I just went out and tried a 1 oz. load using the DRV20 wad. STS hull and W-209, 17.0 grs, Longshot, (Hodgdon lists from 16.3 to 18.0 using the WAA20F1), and 1 oz. #7-1/2 shot. Had to use a little bit of wad pressure, but it then fit and crimped very nicely. Just need to contact Hodgdon and get their blessing on the load. The SP wad is usually used in high velocity loadings. The RP is used for low velocity 1 1/4 oz and up to 1 1/2 oz loads in 2 3/4 hulls. There are a few 3 inch loads that use the SP for 1 1/2 loads.
