I have not been able to get to a range in my area that has a longer distance. IMHO, it is well worth the extra money.The markings on the M1 and M14 knobs are within 1 click of eachother out to the "8" (and I didn't bother checking past that). The M14 has longer sight radius and thus the "5" (either knob) lines up closer to 500m (and conversely if you put it on the M1 it will line up closer to 500yds).
