When I had the oil changed by the gmc dealer (first oil change was free) they used full synthetic oil and a delco filter. My RWD cars also get their oil and rear axle fluid change around the 1,000 mile point.

The LP5 is the 1st year that GM is making the motor totally in house vs the previous Izuzu diesel influence. One really positive thing is that the Bosch injection system is gone for 17 and the Denso system is in. For starters, I don't know if anyone has any data showing the HP4 system is any better.I would never consider a LML after owning a L5P. $1500 to delete a Cummins or LML. $7,000 to delete an L5P. $3,000 to convert from a CP4 to CP3 on the LML. $700+ to level the GMC/Chevy compared to $100 to level the Ram. Personally, I would never consider long-term ownership of a modern diesel with emissions intact.The L5P is flat out a better built motor! Go do your research! The L5P has new heads on it that flow much better and a new fuel injection system but the main engine is mainly the same. Main and oil cooling were increased to deal with the extra power. The filter on the 2019 L5D is the smaller filter just like the 2020 L5P and it takes 10 qts. as well.
